Description
A simple yet impressive side dish featuring thinly sliced russet potatoes layered with garlic butter and parmesan cheese, baked until crispy on the edges and tender in the center.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3–4 large Russet potatoes
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 4–5 cloves fresh garlic, finely minced
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp dried oregano or Italian seasoning
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet or 9×13 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- Wash potatoes thoroughly but do not peel. Slice into thin, even rounds, approximately 1/8 inch thick.
- In a microwave-safe bowl or small saucepan, melt the butter. Stir in minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Arrange a single layer of potato slices on the bottom of the dish. Drizzle or brush with garlic butter and sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
- Repeat the layering process (potatoes, butter, cheese) until all ingredients are used. Ensure the top layer is mostly cheese and butter.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork and the top is golden and bubbly. Tent with foil if browning too quickly.
- Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
For best results, ensure potato slices are uniform in thickness (1/8 inch). If potatoes seem dry halfway through, add a splash of melted butter. Letting the dish rest for 5 minutes helps the layers set. To reheat leftovers, use an oven or toaster oven at 350°F for 10-15 minutes to restore crispiness.
