Description
A quick, creamy, and zesty dip made with just a few simple ingredients. This crowd-pleasing appetizer comes together in under five minutes and is perfect for parties or snacks.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 oz full-fat cream cheese, softened to room temperature
- 1 cup medium salsa (strained if watery)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
- Salt to taste (optional)
- Fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)
- Green onions, sliced (optional)
Instructions
- Soften the cream cheese by letting it sit at room temperature for 30-45 minutes or microwaving in 10-second bursts until pliable.
- Place the softened cream cheese in a mixing bowl and beat with an electric hand mixer on medium speed for 1-2 minutes until smooth and creamy. Scrape down the sides.
- Sprinkle in the garlic powder, cumin, and chili powder. Mix for another 30 seconds to distribute spices evenly.
- Pour in the salsa and mix on low speed until just combined. Avoid overmixing to maintain texture.
- Taste and adjust seasoning with salt or more chili powder if needed.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld and the dip to thicken.
- Stir well before serving. Garnish with fresh cilantro or green onions if desired.
Notes
Ensure cream cheese is fully softened to avoid lumps. If using watery salsa, strain it first to prevent a runny dip. This dip tastes better after chilling overnight. Do not freeze as the texture may become grainy.
