Description
A quick and easy campfire dessert featuring melted semi-sweet chocolate and toasted marshmallows in a skillet, perfect for sharing with two people.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6–8 sheets graham crackers
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup large marshmallows
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (optional)
- Pinch of flaky sea salt
- Few drops vanilla extract
Instructions
- Place a small cast-iron skillet or ramekin on the heat source (oven broiler rack 4 inches from heat, or directly on fire coals/grill grate) and let it warm for 30 seconds.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly across the bottom of the skillet. Add butter on top if using. Let residual heat melt the chocolate for about a minute, shaking gently to spread if needed.
- Once the chocolate is mostly melted and bubbling, layer marshmallows on top, covering the surface but leaving space between them for heat circulation.
- Toast the marshmallows for 3-5 minutes, rotating the pan halfway through, until they are puffed up and lightly golden brown.
- Remove from heat and immediately sprinkle with sea salt and vanilla extract.
- Serve immediately with graham crackers for dipping while the dip is hot and gooey.
Notes
Use jumbo marshmallows for best texture; avoid mini marshmallows as they melt too quickly. If using an oven, watch closely as marshmallows burn easily. For dairy-free, swap butter for coconut oil and use dairy-free chocolate. For gluten-free, use gluten-free graham crackers.
