Crispy Bacon Jalapeno Poppers: Easy 30-Minute Recipe

  • Author: maria_scott
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 16 poppers 1x

Description

Crispy, savory bacon-wrapped jalapeno poppers filled with a creamy, spicy cheddar and cream cheese mixture. These appetizers are quick to make, perfect for parties, and offer a perfect balance of heat and crunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 to 10 medium jalapeno peppers
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
  • 1 pound thick-cut bacon
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Toothpicks for securing

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Wash and dry jalapenos. Slice each pepper in half lengthwise, being careful not to cut through the stem.
  3. Remove seeds and white membranes using a spoon or knife tip. Leave seeds for more heat or remove all for mild poppers.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix until smooth.
  5. Fill each jalapeno half tightly with the cheese mixture.
  6. Cut bacon slices in half crosswise. Wrap one half-slice around each filled jalapeno half and secure with a toothpick.
  7. Place poppers on a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving space between them.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until bacon is crispy and golden brown.
  9. Cool for 5 minutes before removing toothpicks and serving.

Notes

Wear gloves when handling jalapenos to avoid skin irritation. Ensure cream cheese is at room temperature for a smooth filling. For extra crispiness, broil for the last 1-2 minutes while watching closely. Can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 24 hours before baking.
