One-Pan Beef Stir Fry: Easy Weeknight Dinner Recipe

  • Author: maria_scott
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A quick and easy one-pan beef stir fry that comes together in under 20 minutes. This recipe features tender flank steak, crisp vegetables, and a savory umami-rich sauce, perfect for busy weeknights with minimal cleanup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs flank steak
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 large red bell pepper
  • 2 medium carrots, julienned
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium)
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 2 stalks green onions, sliced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Place flank steak in the freezer for 15 minutes to firm up, then slice against the grain into thin strips.
  2. In a small bowl, mix 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 teaspoon cornstarch, and 1 teaspoon sesame oil. Add beef strips and toss to coat. Let marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together remaining soy sauce, dark soy sauce, honey, red pepper flakes, and 2 tablespoons of water. Set aside.
  4. Wash and chop broccoli, bell pepper, and carrots. Keep them in separate piles.
  5. Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large skillet over high heat. Add beef in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove beef and set aside.
  6. Add remaining tablespoon of oil to the pan. Add carrots and broccoli, stir-frying for 2-3 minutes. Add bell peppers and cook for another 1-2 minutes until crisp-tender.
  7. Return beef to the pan. Pour sauce over everything and toss gently. Simmer for 1-2 minutes until sauce thickens.
  8. Remove from heat, drizzle with 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil, and garnish with green onions. Serve immediately.

Notes

Slice beef against the grain for tenderness. Do not overcrowd the pan to ensure proper searing. Use high heat for stir frying. Add sesame oil at the end to preserve aroma. Can be made gluten-free by using tamari instead of soy sauce.
